Artist's Statement

This is yet another cartoon to have come out of drunken conversations with my friend Boyd White, who is depicted leaping off the bridge in this drawing.I can't remember presicely how the idea evolved, but here it is. What you have to wonder about in this cartoon is how exactly the situation depicted came about: Boyd is naked, but I am wearing a lifejacket and water wings, as though I had prepared myself for this but now realize it's not such a hot idea. Why did I ever let this man chain me to himself?

Metaphorically, I think, this cartoon is about how all the slef-destructive idiots of the world are only too happy to take the rest of us down with them. You think they give a shit?
